This guy will be in my first NYC Gallery show. I just found out that I got in and I am very excited. Here is the show info:
"Economies of Scale," a
juried exhibition of small (miniature) works in fiber
that will feature artworks created by members of the
Textile Study Group of New York:
January 7–31, 2009
I submitted three in totally and I had a feeling this piece would get in. It was the most "arty"/conceptual of group. I actually thought about this concept a lot. I wanted it to look a bit evil and look like he has blood around his mouth but really its just a popsicle stick. I have been playing around with the idea of deceiving the viewer a lot with happy surprises. I don't know why I thought it was so funny but I guess the judges liked it too. It is crocheted with recycling twine. The appliques are with vintage fabrics and the pop is made from felt. It will be neat to see what else got in!
That is great - congratulations! I love this little guy :)
Love,
Carra
