I am the luckiest girl EVER!

Runnertop

Tablerunnerbottom

These pictures do NOT do the table runner that Pink Chalk Studio made for me...I LOVE it! I feel in love with this table runner a year ago. I had a buy an apartment to get an excuse for Kathy to make me one of my own. Since I have a studio, I needed something to tie all the "rooms" together. The three main colors I picked where the teal from my kitchen walls, orange from the lamp that will eventualy go above the table and the red that is just about everywhere else. Here is it in use:

Table1

Table2

I posted pictures of the table and Kathy took the art deco theme and went with it. The table was my great-grandmother's and she got it when she got married. That means the table is from the 1920's. It is the sturdiest thing I own and it has leaves that are built in...its great for entertaining. The quilting is amazing and so detailed. She was apparently inspired by Jay's Chrysler Building dress (I miss Project Runway) I am incredibly honored that Kathy took the time out to make it for me!
I am almost finished with me side of the trade. Whatever I make will not come close to this AMAZING item but I'm trying (Hopefully will post photos soon.)

Figuring Out My New Routine.

Slowly, I feel like I am settling into my new life as a Brooklyn resident. I have already changed my commute once to cut off 10 min. of my commute and I know where the perfect places to stand while waiting for the train. My feet are getting used to all the extra walking. I finally had a lazy day yesterday and got a chance to walk around Prospect Park and being a redhead, I did get a little color. I took the pictures last weekend. I think I am just about settled in. I am slowly reorganizing my cabinets that I threw stuff into when I first moved in. I want to get some posters framed but other than that, I think I am all settled in.
I have one crochet project I am working on but I am trying really hard to make to be a "fine artist". I have been doing a lot of collage work. I have a couple swaps that i am working on and think that has helped me get back into a good rhythym.
I know I have been taking about this for awhile but I am going to start working iin a sketch book everynight, from 11 to 11:15. Doing morning pages really helped calm me and I think I need that again right now. It will be nice to have a release before I go to bed. I should do it first thing in the morning, on the subway...I'll see how it goes.

We have Light and Lots of Teal!

Teal

I just spent the afternoon at my new place accessing, spackling and sanding (I actually didn't spackle but did watch my parents...they did a great job!). Here are some quick shots...The photo above is one of the walls, every last inch of the apartment will be painted next weekend. I do like this color, just not so much of it. I actually picked out a color close to this for the galley kitchen, just a little lighter, with a little more blue. My stuff is loud enough, I want my walls in the main space to be more nuetral and soothing. You can see the blue tape on the floor where my mother "laid out" where I would like the furniture to gp. It's going to be tight but I think everything is going to fit with room to play. I am keeping the two light fixtures shown below...very mod.

Kitchenlight
Kitchen Light - The ceiling is actually peach, not black (Yes, taking better photos is on my to-do list).

Hallwaylight

Hallway Light - It is a small globe fixture with a yellow splatter paint design, it looks a little like string art.

I even purchased a pendant light from Anthropologie to go over the dining room table that matches the light in the kitchen.

The good thing is that I haven't moved yet and still have access to most of my art supplies!

It's Officially Official...

Papers are signed, I have the keys and I can move into my new Brooklyn apartment whenever I want! This is NOT what my apartment looks like. I am actually moving into a studio apartment so it isn't that much larger than this box. Infact, the only thing that is similar is the Tiffany Box blue color that is now in 90% of the apartment. The rest of the apartment is peach/flesh. Don't worry, it will all be a faint memory next week when I paint EVERY inch of the place. I do plan on painting the peach kitchen the using the left over teal paint. It will look great with all my red stuff and will be better in a smaller area and its free since ia whole can was left behind. Well, asist my parents that is. We are hoping to knock it all out in a weekend. I hope so because the place hasn't been painted in awhile. Since the place needs some tlc and elbow greese, I am not moving until the end of the month. Since I had to extend my lease in my NYC apartment for another month, the goal is that the last thing that will move into my place will be me and my personal stuff. My Ikea run and other purchases will hopefully be taken care of before I move in so all I have to do is unpack and hang pictures. There might be some loose ends but I think I will be able to meet that goal.
I have been sketching out layouts for the last two and a half months and I have decided to divide the space up so it doesn't feel like on big room. I can't wait to move my furniture in since I think my plans will work out but there is always doubt. I do plan to take a lot of before and after pictures. I did add "Apartment" as a category since I will probably be talking about my new place a lot. I don't have too many "crafty" projects in mind. I just want to create a clean and modern space. If everything fits like I have designed it in my mind, I will have enough room to eat, sleep, relax and create! I am very excited to be settled in, three weeks still seems like a long time away though.
