More for My "TO DO" List

Luchalibre

These embroidery transfers came other the weekend from Sublime Stitching. I have no idea how or where I am going to use them but somewhere in my apartment there is going to be an embroidery of a Mexican wrestler by the time three week vacation is over even if I make something the night before I go back to work.
I also got a couple other patterns for my work's Secret Snowflake. We had a limit of $5 and these fit within the budget, not too much else does. I am going to add some floss add make wrapping paper with diagrams of different stitches.

Almost Art Dolls

Artdolls

So I am posting three art dolls that are in progress. I actually made the bodies weeks ago. I actually intended on making lino cuts for the faces and print them on another piece of fabric and applique them on. I was inspired Kiki Smith Lucy’s Daughters, knowing that is was an ambitious task.

Well, I guess its good to aim high. When I sat down to figure out the shape of the bodies, I got really into this ackward side profile siloette. I just couldn't figure out how to come up with a print that fit with all the bodies and worked with the different hair styles. I think that's why I didn't work on them for so long. Well they are due Monday. Over the weekend, I was really inspired by this illustration. Until I saw this, I was afraid that the dolls would look more craft than art. I think the buttons made me really make the mouths so out of line. I am going to give them all rosy cheeks too, I just didn't get that far yet. I will also give them all shoes and add some more little details. I should get them in the mail by Friday so I don't plan to go too crazy. I forced myself to stop working on them tonight in fear that I was going to make them too cutsy. I think simplicity is the key and I get out of hand when I am tired. I am planning on keeping them armless. Any other suggestions?

For my trip to the beach, I set a really ambitious goal for myself. I decided I wanted to stitch my little fingers off and I most have transfered atleast 10 different designs onto linen. I, of course, really wanted to finally use the Wee Wonderfuls Stitchette designs that had been sitting on my table since the day I recieved them. I even bought linen at Mood, one of my favorite fabric shops before Project Runway contestants shopped there.
After all my prepping, this is my only completed embroidery design. Whoops, thought I would be a little more productive! Anyway, my goal was to transform the design as much as possible and "Make it my own". I really didn't do that, I did end up keeping close to the original example. I liked this design the best...minus the skateboard, it seemed to be look like me the most. Well, the hair is a dead-on match!

Whenever I have a lot of dealines coming up, I seem to find myself working on a project just for fun. It is almost as if I can not continue until I get the "fun" out of the way so I can be productive. So this is my "fun" embroidered kitty. I got the Aunt Martha transfer at an embroidery class I took back in March. With all the animals I have been crocheting, I wanted to do an intensive embroidered project for practice. I wanted to see how much I can make it my own. I started with the puff of hair, that seems to be my signature, although I usually just attach wool. The fabric on the back reminds me of a dress I had when I was little. It is a big joke now, since I will not wear red being that I am a redhead. The funniest thing about my old dress is that my sister had the same dress but in reverse. I think we wore them to a wedding and then went to Sears I think to get our picture taken. I thought the kitty worked well with a pattern that reminded my of my childhood.
Since I seem to have a lot of unfinished products, I am going to try to complete whatever I can this week, even though I am taking a book binding class this week. My project board is definelty filled. What I am trying to say is that hopefully I will be posting a lot this week!
