So I am posting three art dolls that are in progress. I actually made the bodies weeks ago. I actually intended on making lino cuts for the faces and print them on another piece of fabric and applique them on. I was inspired Kiki Smith Lucy’s Daughters, knowing that is was an ambitious task.

Well, I guess its good to aim high. When I sat down to figure out the shape of the bodies, I got really into this ackward side profile siloette. I just couldn't figure out how to come up with a print that fit with all the bodies and worked with the different hair styles. I think that's why I didn't work on them for so long. Well they are due Monday. Over the weekend, I was really inspired by this illustration. Until I saw this, I was afraid that the dolls would look more craft than art. I think the buttons made me really make the mouths so out of line. I am going to give them all rosy cheeks too, I just didn't get that far yet. I will also give them all shoes and add some more little details. I should get them in the mail by Friday so I don't plan to go too crazy. I forced myself to stop working on them tonight in fear that I was going to make them too cutsy. I think simplicity is the key and I get out of hand when I am tired. I am planning on keeping them armless. Any other suggestions?
