Droopy Dog

I actually made during my vacation. After a very busy week, I too am feeling a bit droopy much like this sock dog...or maybe cat. I don't know. But it's cute in that ugly sort of way.
When I wasn't getting together paperwork for my BIG purchase, I was making a hat for a commision. I was asked last week if I could make this...

It's cable knit but I think I can make a ribbed hat in that shape and it will look close enough. The red yarn I have is cotton and is really thick so I think I am going to redo it. It will be a nice excuse to go the The Yarn Store after work tomorrow. Somehow I can rationalize buying good yarn for someone else!
Hopefully next week will be a little less crazy and I will not be so overwhelmed. Wish me luck!

Stupid Sock Twins

Ok, so they are not identical but these Stupid Sock Creatures were made together for a double birthday party at work. I love that book! The patterns are just so quick and easy. I think handsewing is just so soothing. No two come out the same, atleast not when I make them! The pink one is for Cathy, it is glittery! She wouldn't put it down the entire party...even to drink her coffee!

Need a Hug?

Here is another project I made while on my two week vacation. I have a bit of a backlog so I will try to post them periodically throughout this week. I am calling this one "Purple Dog". I know, not very creative. I am going to give it to my niece at my nephew's birthday party. Her favorite color is purple so it should by a hit. The sock is from the Old Navy holiday sale. I hope his facial expression shows up in the photo as well as it does in person. Even though the legs turned out really long, I think it looks hugable!

It's a New Years Creature

I made this Sock Creature last week while I was on vacation. I actually made a lot of sock animals that I have yet to post and hope to post them this week. This one is the closest to how I felt this morning since it was the first time in two weeks that I had to wake up to an alarm...it was really nice while it lasted. There was just a lot of sales on cute socks after the holidays, I was inspired and I haven't done any hand-sewing in a while. This one is for me but I think some of the sock dogs will go up on my shop. They seem very Valentine's to me.

For the last Whiplash color competition, this sock dog, came to me pretty easily once I remembered to had a brightly colored pair of striped socks. I had bought them at a vendor at a random street fair right by my apartment to make into some type of softie. All the other details came to me once to started to develope a personality.

Creation of Cat Monster

When I want to be a little more...creative with my crochet animals, I like to switch gears and make a sock animal. I find that socks are more flexable and the more lumps and bumps the cuter they turn out. So this weekend, I turned to more favorite book, Stupid Sock Creatures and went to work. My first try got a little out of hand so on my second try Cat Monster was born. I do want to try making buck teeth again, just maybe not with pink aurgile?
